Peter L. Jacobsen, PhD, DDS

Diplomat, American Board of Oral Medicine

Dr. Jacobsen has a Ph.D. in Comparative Pharmacology and Toxicology and a DDS. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Oral Medicine. He directed the Oral Medicine Clinic at the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco for 25 years.

He is a past Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the ADA Council on Scientific Affairs and has been named one of the ”Leaders in Continuing Education” by Dentistry Today magazine for the past ten years.

 

Dr. Jacobsen lectures extensively on Dental Pharmacology, Over-the-Counter Dental Drugs and Products and the Dental Management of Medically Complex Patients. His newest topic is Health, Happiness, and Longevity (LifeStyle Medicine) as it relates to oral healthcare providers and their patients. 

 

He is the author of The Little Dental Drug Booklet, one of the most widely recognized and read handouts and references on the clinical use of commonly prescribed dental medications, the pharmacological management of oral diseases and the oral medicine of managing medically complex patients. 

 

His presentations are practical and clinically relevant for dentists and dental hygienists. (They are also interesting and fun!)
